BA in Economics (U. of Saskatchewan), LL.B. (Dalhousie), MBA (Columbia University), DEA in International Law (Université de Paris II – Panthéon). Mr. Laprès is a former Maître de Conférence at the Université de Paris I (Sorbonne) and is Professor of Law and Finance at the Faculté Libre de Droit, d’Economie et de Gestion (Paris). Mr. Laprès practiced law in Hong Kong with Phillips and Vineberg and Coudert Brothers prior to 1976. Qualified for the Paris Bar in 1978 Mr. Laprès has since been established in Paris. His current practice is concentrated on assisting business people and corporations in their investments and establishments in France, covering negotiation and drafting of contracts, financial and legal planning, IPR and dispute settlement including litigation and arbitration.
He advises corporate clients in communications (computer, TV, telecom, publishing, and internet) and financial sectors (brokerage, banks, insurance) such as Schlumberger s.a. (memory cards), Munich Re s.a., Lycos, Preferred Technology of San Francisco. Mr. Laprès’ publications include a leading book on Chinese business law published in 1997 by ICC and 40 articles on international legal and financial issues which are posted at www.lapres.net.
